Increased Demand for Organic Fertilizers

The meteoric rise in chemical fertilizer prices has led farmers , homeowners and growers of all types to reconsider their practices and look for alternatives. More farmers are returning to the natural products that their fathers and grandfathers used before the advent of high analysis chemicals. In addition, as increasingly health-conscious consumers have sought more organically-grown food, the number of organic farmers has further increased and significantly increased the demand for natural organic fertilizers.

Organic farms are more resilient to drought, more energy efficient and less oil dependent. Organic farming also sequesters carbon in the soil, which is better for sustained crop production and helpful in slowing the warming of the planet. European agencies have documented that organic farming can revitalize rural communities, has better farm labor relationships and can heal environmentally-damaged countryside.

The nation's organic infrastructure is expanding rapidly with new grain elevators, vegetable packing houses and community kitchens.
